Our mission

To unite promising male and female rugby players in Africa under one flag, in order to give members a platform to showcase their abilities and develop their potential through the values of rugby, both on and off the pitch. By doing so, the Club aims to inspire the next generation of rugby players to reach their highest standards of ability and become agents of development and change within their respective communities.

Our vision

One Club for One People:

  • Promoting development within communities across Africa through opportunities provided by high performance pathways.

  • Inspiring young athletes across Africa from the creation of opportunities associated with playing at a representative level for an invitational side that embodies solidarity, leadership, sportsmanship, enjoyment and discipline.

the Club’s history

The Scorpions RFC formed in Dodoma, Tanzania in 1959. It was established upon principles that have many parallels with the Barbarian RFC in terms of values, playing style, selection policy and not having a formal home ground.

The club fielded invitational teams throughout the sixties, seventies and eighties until the club’s activities ceased in 1992. Between 1959 and 1992. the Scorpions played over [TBC] fixtures against teams from all over the world. As a touring side, the Scorpions had a simple intention; to allow players to play high quality rugby that would otherwise be unavailable to them. Over time, a move to Kenya in the 1970’s saw the club play their “home” games in Nairobi at the Rugby Football Union of East African (RFUEA) Ground

With rugby thriving across Africa recent years, the Club was relaunched in 2020 to help build the success of the sport and provide a high performance platform for members from across Africa to benefit from.
