Reviving the Legacy: Scorpions Vs Bryncethin RFC

After a three-decade hiatus, the Scorpions RFC is making a sensational comeback, igniting the rugby scene in East Africa with a game against Welsh club side Bryncethin RFC. The event has been 4 years in the making and brings together top players from various African nations, uniting their talents to compete against the touring international side. With the support of primary sponsor Cape Town Fish Market and logistics partner Exodus resort Jambiani the Scorpions are set to train on Zanzibar before the much-anticipated match. The fixture would not be possible without additional sponsors Njia African Adventures, Feel Savannah, and NGE Maendeleo. These sponsors emphasize the importance of collaboration and unity in fostering growth. Thanks must also go to the East African Rugby Union for their support in bringing the team back in the 21st century.

By assembling the finest athletes, the Scorpions not only aim to challenge international teams but also inspire the next generation of rugby players across the region. Players selected to represent Scorpions RFC for the revival hail from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, Burkina Faso, Tunisia and Sudan. Scouts and coaches in those countries have selected some of the finest rugby athletes for the occasion.

In preparation for the momentous match, the Scorpions will undergo an intensive three-day high performance training camp at the Exodus Jambiani Resort in Zanzibar. This setting provides the ideal backdrop for honing skills, teamwork, and camaraderie.

Then, on June 1st, Scorpions RFC will make their long-awaited return at the Mao Zedong Stadium in Stonetown, Zanzibar.

For their part, Bryncethin RFC will be fresh off a warm up game against the Tanzania Select XV and are excited to be joining the long list of touring sides who have played against the Scorpions which include world famous clubs such as Wasps, Harlequins, Old Georgians and Blackrock College RFC.

The revival of the African Scorpions RFC marks a significant moment in rugby history for East Africa. With the support of esteemed sponsors, the Scorpions are poised to leave a lasting impact, showcasing Africa's talent and potential on the global stage while also stimulating the local economy on Zanzibar.
