New Tanzania Kit Unveiled

On the eve of Tanzanias big match againt Railway Union the Team were presented with a brand new set of international match jerseys sponsored kindly by our strategic partner organisation NGE Maendeleo and Safari Lager.

The Jerseys were Presented by the Chairman of African Scorpions RFC, Peadar O'Murchu to the Team Captain and President of the TRU.

It was great to see Safari Lager giving there support after being approached by directors from NGE Maendeleo and we hope that this will be the start of a prosperous relationship between Safari and the international team.

Gaudence Kalikela was announced as the 1st Tanzanian captain in 16 years and he gladly accepted the honour and Jerseys on behalf of the team.

"A huge honor for me to Captain the side. This is a huge opportunity, I have been playing for a very long time and in many countries but did not think that this day would ever come. We are eternally grateful to Scorpions RFC and their hardwork to bring Tanzania forward. This fixture would be impossible without their leadership" said Kalikela.

Peadar O'Murchu who will be taking the field with Railway Union also commented;

"A great deal of work and finanical assistance has been provided to the Tanzanian team to make this fixture happen, we at the Scorpions are dleighted to cover the cost of kit, transport, food and accommodation as well as bringing in specialist international coaches to start the Tanzanian team off on the right foot. We would love to see this team of young men go from here and achieve greatness for the country. It starts with putting a team on the field, we are looking for Rugby Afrique approval and once we get that then who know where the limit is, African Nations Cup, World Cup maybe even the Olympics. But no matter what, it all starts here."
