New Patron for Scorpions RFC
Scorpions Rugby club are announcing a new rugby Patron, former French rugby star Roger Bourgarel. Roger supports our project to bring elite rugby opportunities to players in Africa. Roger was the first colored international player allowed to play in Apartheid South Africa, in 1971.
Jeff Arribard, Ambassador to Rugby in Cameroon and chairperson of our charity partner SportCITIzen said;
“I was delighted that, when I asked Roger to become a Scorpion RFC Patron, he immediately accepted with his customary humility. He continues to make a mark in his sport to this day.”
Director of Rugby Fred Davies said, “Roger epitomises all that is good about the game of rugby and his synergy with the Scorpions mission is uncanny. As a popular and charismatic player, he brought joy to a great number of people especially when he played on the 1971 French tour of South Africa. It is with great pleasure we welcome him to the team and we all look forward to working with him over the coming years.”
Toulouse RFC announced Rogers Patronage in their club newsletter this week Carnets du Rouge Et Noir.
